Holly Pester, Bog Buttered Thoughts on Abortivity
Saturday 27 January, 7pm.
Holly Pester is a poet, researcher and educator. She is mostly based in London and has books and artefacts published by Book Works and Test Centre, with poems featured in The White Review, The Believer online, and Poetry Review.
Pester performed poems from a work-in-progress collection, mixed with shared research anecdotes and articles from her study on abortivity. Following from Simone Weil’s decoration - ‘to make something created pass into the uncreated’, and a Gadded withdrawal of the self - this project makes soulful work of endings by figuring: sacrificial burials and plotted substance; their particular decompositions and preservations; a lover’s ekstaticly aborted subjectivity and her ready rest/lessness.
