Lisa Selby is an artist, educator and activist. Through her research of addiction, mental health and wellbeing in connection to UK penal systems and support networks she seeks to suppler incarcerated and those affected by addiction. Her partner Elliot is due to be released in 2019. They are on Instagram as @bluebaglife.

Trying to stroke my leg as you’re nodding out on smack. Your breathing is irregular and you are sensitive to construction sounds outside. You won’t eat. I don’t know what to do.

We stood still for five minutes. As gang punches flew, you told me to nestle my head into your neck and shoulders as you placed your hands over my ears. We were standing up but if I imagined really hard, we were laying down in our bed, trying to breathe at the same time.
